Multiterminals are also more cost-effective: it is not necessary to buy separate motherboards, microprocessors, RAM, hard disks and other components for each user.

Open userful

OpenUserful is an umbrella project of all of Userful's open source public computing software.
Multiseat Linux provides multiple sets of user interface hardware (monitor/keyboard/mouse/sound etc.) so that multiple people can use one computer box simultaneously and independently. Multi-Station is ideal for libraries, Internet cafes, family home use, classrooms, call centers, and other high density, cost-sensitive environments. Putting two to ten users on one standard PC (instead of individual PCs) quickly creates significant hardware, system administration, and power savings.
Openuserful is hosted on http://sourceforge.net/projects/openuserful/?abmode=1
